Naw, I think he'll get to the top and find a rope and pulley system set up there, so he didn't need to carry the striker up by hand.

Oh that's right, I'd forgotten about that guy.
...I still can't decide whether him ringing the doom bell with fix things or make things worse for Agatha. It'll be suitably game-changing in any case...

The Doom Bell ringing should help Agatha out by letting her Jaegers enter the city freely. I'm guessing it will also cause most of the city's residents to affirm their loyalty to the new Heterodyne though what actual effect that might have, I'm not sure. I think it will also serve to demoralize some of the enemy as well.
I'm just curious as to how this guy plans on actually swinging the hammer to hit the bell when he gets it up there. Of course it's possible that the 'statue' up near the top of the tower will be activated by the Castle (assuming that once that last big break is fixed the Castle will have more outside control) to take the hammer and strike the bell.

Vell, de real qvestion iz vhat button does hyu haff to press to active it! Hy dun't tink iz joost activated by der kestle, 'coz den Von Mekken vould be out uv a job. Beink inside de Tower ven de Doom Bell ring iz priddy gut deat'trap right dere. In de link Tzoram show abuv, de Ringink iz fizzically painful to pipples in de streets, ja? So how do itt feel iff hyu is inside de solid stone Cylinder directly under de Bell?
It has been suggested the Oublenmach could mean "maker of Oobleck" (a simple non-Newtonian fluid popular in beginning physics labs). If he tries ringing the Doom Bell from inside the tower, it might mean "MAKINGS of Oobleck" as a shock wave like that could easily seperate him into fluids and pulp, recombine him, and do strange things to the mixture as well!

After all that effort Oblenmach is almost worth a few pieces of gold. However I think it is more likely to result in Jägers oozing up out of the sewers than gold falling out of the sky.
Unless the flying monkeys rip open the treassury on Castle Wulfenbach...

...a shock wave like that could easily seperate him into fluids and pulp, recombine him, and do strange things to the mixture as well! Anybody else recall that old Season I episode of Futurama? "That's the Juice-o-Matic 4000! When they throw you into that it'll separate out the juice (by which I mean me) from the pulp (by which I mean YOUR SHREDDED REMAINS)!"Incidentally, I think he'll be just fine. Sure, he's a jerk and Foglio karma works swiftly and hilariously... but a horrible horrible death is so obvious. Perhaps a horrible horrible pantsing.
