I always assumed that Gil's zappy stick worked by causing the negative and the positively charged ions in the air to form a connection and thus form an electrical discharge. Now I assume that the devices Gil had installed earlier helped create enormous amounts of negative and positively charged ions. That way he could be sure that he would always have "ammo" so to speak. Now even though most of his devices blew out there are still a few that should still be in working condition. Plus if you add in the fact that there should still be a decent bit of charge in the air from when they were working earlier and the natural charged ions that are always in the air it would stand that the stick would still work but since Agatha had not had a chance to test it she could not be sure of how many charged ions were still floating around. But of course that is all just my "theory" on how it all works.

I'll buy that. It's very plausable. Unless you need a truly massive charge (as Gill did), you can use this in most circumstances.
